THE UNWRITTEN RULES PROJECT

As social awareness around systemic racism began to rise during the summer of 2020, a group of my former colleagues at Hawkeye got together to find ways to highlight the racism and inequality experienced by African American people.

Those conversations culminated in the Unwritten Rules Project, which outlines the unwritten rules of Black life in America. But we didn’t stop at just highlighting those unwritten rules, we developed a comprehensive bank of resources to help people join the movement and take action to erase them.

Here are a few snapshots of the content I wrote. I was the copy lead on the project and I oversaw a small team of writers who developed the additional rules. You can read more about this project here:
